ISAK's ProjectNEPAL: EQ relief through health and Education

The first team started from these situation

Picture

Electricity Outage

Despite being the world's second richest country in terms of water resources,  Nepal hasn't been able to exploit its full potential, and thus one major issue that Nepal is facing is heavy load-shedding. People have to cope with 10 hours of power cut in 24 hours everyday. The situation escalates during the dry season.

Border blockade & Fuel Crisis

Nepal’s agitated Madhesi People imposed a five-month long blockade at the Indo-Nepal border to protest against the recently promulgated Constitution of Nepal. This resulted in a fuel crisis and shortage of supplies. Crisis hit the people hard due to lack of supplies.
Several  relief projects handled by different authorities, including ISAK's ProjectNEPAL, were delayed as a result.

After shocks

Just on April 27th, the 449th physical aftershock of 4.3 magnitude struck Rasuwa - a district close to Sindhupalchok (worst hit district). It has already been three years since the earthquake but psychological aftershocks still persists haunting the life of Nepali people.

Let's Build Schools
Campaign

We worked with Let’s Build Schools Campaign, a campaign run by a Member of Parliament based in Kathmandu to build temporary learning centers for children to study in after their school buildings were destroyed by the earthquake in rural areas around Kathmandu.

Phulpingkati EQ Relief

We worked with a volunteer earthquake relief group, Phulping EQ Relief Project. We donated funds to buy medicines thrice, and in each case, the medicine was distributed at free medical camps in the district.

Tsum Valley Medical Camp

Working with the "Free medical and accupuncture" organised by the Thrangu monastery, we were able to get medical care to the people of Tsum Valley. Tsum valley rests at the feet of Annapurna, a mountain range. The camp was held for approximately two weeks.

Map of Efforts

The image shows the different districts in Nepal we were able to reach from our relief efforts. This was possible because of working together with the local groups and organisations.
