The Team visited Nepal in June 2017

On Monday June 13th, three of our members, Dolma (Nepal), Gunn (Thailand), and Gurmukh (India) travelled to Nepal to begin their 3 week ISAK’s Project Nepal Visit to Nepal. This visit, the Team had an opportunity to meet with, Bijay Rimal, Phul Kumari Mahato Memorial Hospital Administrator, whom we are working with to bring our “Dr. Car” to Siraha District - where sanitation and diarrhea issues need improvement. Mr. Rimal expressed his gratitude towards our help, and he is excited to partner with us to make Dr. Car happen. He also said that he was impressed by ISAK’s Project Nepal!

The Team also met with Dorje Gurung, an education program director from COMMITTED Nepal to discuss our collaboration in funding a fishery project in Melamchi that would sustain a local school, Chettrapaleshwori School. The three members also travelled to Melamchi to look at the fishery site and met with Chettrapaleshwori School’s principal and a few teachers. Despite our commitment in helping out with the school and the fishery project, the soil condition at the site is not feasible for turning into fish ponds, mainly because the water will not stay filled.

The Team travelled to Sindhupalchowk, one of the district that was affected by the Earthquake the most. The team made a visit to our healthpost after it had been opened for about three months. The team spoke to the doctor at the healthpost to evaluate on the healthpost situation, feedback from the patients, and any improvements needed.

Towards the end of the trip, the team had a meeting with the Japanese Embassy in Nepal to learn more about the Japanese ODA (Official development Assistance), which would make or Dr. Car project happen. We also had an opportunity to give a brief presentation on our project to the Japanese Embassy in Nepal.

Three of our members spent a few days hiking and living up in one of our member’s house in Sindhupalchowk District. This gave our members an insight into the lives of the locals and understandings of what they need. Not only that our members got to move our projects in Nepal a little closer to happening, but smiles, happiness, and gratitude from the local people we visited gave us inspiration and motivation to pursue what ISAK’s Project Nepal is founded for - The recovery of post-earthquake Nepal through education and health.
