About Mt. Ontake and GonoikekoyaOf all mountain cottages of Mt. Ontake, Gonoikekoya is located in the northern most area. Surrounded by Alpine flowers and beautiful lakes, it is a popular sight for climbers throughout the spring, summer and autumn. The cottage is a relaxing site, where you would often find customers drinking coffee, enjoying liquor with small chats. In 2012, a small cafe “Panda-ya” opened in a corner of the cottage. Mountain lovers come together to discuss about mountains, while drinking and singing.

Why collaborate with Gonoikekoya?
On September 27, 2014, Mt. Ontake erupted, which lead to a decline in visitors and climbers to Gonoikeya although located far from the peak. The Great Nepal Earthquake occurred an year later in April. It has been more than three years since their occurrence, and we felt that public support and concerns towards the incidents seemed to be fading out. Both Nepal and Mt. Ontake are surrounded by mind-blowing landscape, and had experienced a tragedy in the same period. Our school has been visiting Mt. Ontake for a long time, and had been debating on how we may be able to help in its revival. We came to a conclusion that although it may be a small step, nothing would change without steady effort; leading to our collaboration.
All profits gained through this collaboration is used towards support for both Mt. Ontake and Nepal.
