About Project Lotus
ISAK's Project NEPAL choose the name for our newest project to be Project Lotus due to the symbolism of the lotus flower. In many cultures, including Nepalese culture, the Lotus represents rebirth and revitalization. ISAK's Project NEPAL hopes to achieve both of these qualities into rebuilding the Kihyun Primary School. Our organization hopes to rebuild the broken infrastructure of the school and revitalize the spirit of education at the school.
Current situationThe initial attention of the April 2015 earthquake brought to Nepal has now died down, leaving just Nepalese to deal with the long term issues in Nepal. One of these issues is the number of schools that have been left in a dilapidated condition and the lack of teachers that are sent to them. Much of this is due to inability of the government to keep track of schools in or out of use. Nepal needs more long term investments in the education of children in rural areas rather than just fixing schools in the short time.

Partnership with Pahar TrustWhile working on Project Lotus, Project Nepal made contact with Pahar Trust. Pahar Trust is an organization that aims to raise funds to improve education and health services to people living in remote areas of Nepal. Since its founding, Pahar Trust had rebuilt and constructed over 100 schools in Nepal. Due to ISAK's Project NEPAL's and Pahar Trust's shared interest in this project, our two organizations have formed a partnership to support one another in this school project.
